"International Community Assist", sending it to our UK address with
a copy of the donation form.
Please state if you require a receipt.
You can
also donate directly by credit/debit card online through CAFonline
Cartridge
/inkjet contributers. If you save 4 or more toner cartridges please give
us a call and the re-cycler will send a courier anywhere in the UK to collect
them. Inkjet cartridges bring in a good return for ICA and can easily be sent
in the post.
Stamps. Supporters/business
collect used stamps. We need both UK and foreign stamps packed seperately
so that we can raise funds accordingly. Please send them into our UK office.
If you want to
visit our work let us know. Additionally, we are looking for volunteers to
go out and help our projects for 14 days or more. The skills required are
any found in the UK - teaching and computing.
Travel: It
is best to fly either by Malev (£250) or Austrian Airlines (£340),
both airlines offer 6 flights a week. You have to be in Albania over a Saturday
for these cheap rates. You will need suitable insurance to include casualty
evacuation because of poor medical facilites in Albania and a copy of the
document has to be held in our Devizes office.
There
is an Albanian entry and exit tax of $15 payable in cash at Tirana Airport.
If you are a UK citizen, you will not need a visa. Bashkim will meet you at
the airport and drive you to Bajze. This will cost about £50 and will
need to be divided up amongst those who might be travelling together.
Accomodation
is living with families but if you work on about £100/week for food, accomodation
and local transport your cost estimates will not be far out. Whilst in the area
and in Albania itself, you will be with people who will speak some English and
are involved with the development of the community.
For
more information on Albania, the Blue Guide by James Pettifer(1996) ISBN 0-7136-3785-4
is well worth the read.
Zina
and Emanuael... and their collapsing wooden home
In
order to try and alleviate poverty we are able to offer "Families Together"
to enable families such as Zina and Emanuael. We provide a folder with photographs
and background information. For the small monthly sum of £10, this money
is delivered partly to a family you are together with and they are able
to use this much needed donation for humanitarian needs and partly for development
which helps all families. This togetherness is rewarding in personal
terms, especially when a relationship develops through the exchange of letters
which we have translated. Your support has the advantage of helping destitute
Albanians work their way out of poverty and to keep families together.

We
have a group of supporters who are pro-active at spreading the word. If you would
like a talk to be given to an organisation, school, church about our work please
let us know.
We have just produced
a Gift Brochure describing some of the
very personal Gifts that you could help provide to support an Albanian family.
If you feel you could help with any of these, please email or phone us for
a copy of this Brochure.

We are asking groups
such as schools, choirs, organisations or individuals to sing Tom
and Hannah's Carol this year to promote awareness of our work. We want
as many people as possible to sing the Carol world-wide and to let us know
so that we can say how many have been involved. If you do sing the Carol and
make a collection please send a donation, however small to ICA to help the
destitute of Albania. Thank you.
