A grandfather wrote this Carol with and for his 2 grandchildren, Tom (7) and Hannah (5). He had just told them of a 9 year old in Sarajevo who had been sledging with her friends when they were killed by a shell. Her father picked her up, her long fair hair lying across her shoulders. All she wanted to do was play with her friends.
What the grandfather could not say was that he wanted to kiss her but the shell had blown away her face. He tried to explain, as best he could, how selfishness created evil, how the opposite of selfishness is "love" and how we must try to change the world by loving one another. He explained how the birth of a child in Bethlehem had resulted in millions of people across the world loving, understanding, forgiving and caring for each other.
Tom and Hannah thought it would be a good idea to write a Carol for all children who suffer and here it is. There is no copyright....use it as you wish.
A small group of people who have worked with people who have suffered from conflict thought it would be a good idea to try and get ONE MILLION people across the world to sing the Carol during the Christmas period. It was then suggested that if every person who sang the Carol could raise just £1 this could be used to provide a safe and sound environment in which to re-build lives in Albania and Bosnia.
